2012 in review – February

This was a busy busy month – it was a year for newborns!! And this started it all off

I also travelled to Las Vegas with friends to experience the annual amazing WPPI conference (Wedding & Portrait Photographers International) Imagine 17,000 photographers at the MJM Grand for 5 days for tradeshows, seminars and alot of networking and having fun! Here are some of the photos taken in fun and on one of the quick seminars I attended.

It was also the FIRST ever meeting for GP soup that month!

And the local Grande Prairie & District SPCA had their annual ball!

Also our local Love Life Hot Yoga was featured in a Yoga Clothing blog named Silver Icing (as the store of the month) and I had the honour of taking the photos!

2012 in Review – January

Like, last year , I am going to do a year in review one month at a time. When we get to the summer and fall you might even see photos you haven’t seen as I have been horribly guilty of not updating my blog much at all! That hopefully will change this year!

Its been an amazing year of ups and downs both professionally and personally, a year of fantastic growth and change. I’m very excited for what 2013 has to bring to the table!

January 2012 was a busy month mostly in getting ready for the upcoming year, I launched the new website, did our annual bridal show and the launch of my first of many covers for Guided Synergy magazine took place! Also had a fantastic newborn shoot with a long time client and a very successful wedding show! February is way more exciting – stay tuned!

Barceló Maya Colonial – Destination Wedding

Well my blog has been like a deserted ghost town due to travel and how busy I’ve been! Even my website hasn’t been updated with all this years photos!!! Time to get down and get caught up!

First I want to start with a destination wedding I just got back from! The bride and groom went to the beautiful Barceló Maya Colonial for their wedding and it was spectacular! We even did the trash the dress in a near by cenote testing out my new underwater housing

This family I have known for years and love them- I’ve watched their children grow up and their oldest has babysat for me many many times. This shoot was 4 years in the making with each year being put off due to their busy schedules – so glad we could make it work this year!!!

Newborn in the Park

This beautiful family I had the pleasure of photographing in May when her belly was nice and big and the weather was beautiful! One of many outdoor maternity sessions this year. She wanted to continue the outdoor theme and have her newborn photos done in the same park, and so we did. What a great big brother her son is to his new sister!

This wedding was BEAUTIFUL! It took place at the Oasis in Edmonton, and nothing could stop this couple, or this wedding, even the torrential downpour that took place halfway through the day. The decor was elegant with touches of fuchsia everywhere, and the cake was a beautiful whimsical tiered cake. The bride who is Russian even made sure traditional shots of Vodka took place during the speeches!

This is the third year I’ve photographed this family and watching their teens grow into young adults has been wonderful. They have now moved to Edmonton and so I was able to join them there this year for their annual photos with both their kids in town at the same time!

I simply adore this couple. I met them a few years back when Jenna ran into my booth last minute at the Ultimate Bridal Show in Grande Prairie and entered her name for my $2000 wedding package give away. You had to be there to win the package, and I drew probably 20 names before I drew her name much to everyone else’s dismay as she had been the last entry! They upgraded to one of the larger packages using the package they won towards it, and hired me for their beautiful and unique wedding at the Rimrock in Banff. I got to know them more and more as we did not just one, but two engagements, and Jenna became involved in many charities that I also supported so we saw alot of eachother! The day came along and it was so much fun- full of starwars, rain, sunflowers and big smiles!

So many maternity and newborn photos this year!!!!! I met this family last year when i did their family photos, and was so excited to be invited back to photograph the pregnancy of their latest creation!! hehe

This couple hired me over a year in advance and I had the pleasure of getting to know them during their engagement session in the summer of 2011. Fast forward to July 7, 2012 and they were getting married. The bride had a gorgeous lace dress with just a bit of bling and her bridesmaids wore beautiful long grey gowns. The reception was all red and damask bringing such an air of class to the entire event!
