this family is dear to my heart – The Father was a good friend of mine through junior high and high school in Edmonton. I was thrilled when he married the love of his life 3 years ago. They first got married privately on 09-09-09 on a beach with no witnesses save for 2 the needed for signatures, then a week or so later they had a chinese tea ceremony back in Edmonton then a big party out at Lily Lake with all their family to celebrate their love. You can check out some of their VERY non traditional wedding photos here!
And here we are almost 3 years later – they’ve added Johnson and Maggie to their crew and are still this amazing fun unique family. When they called, the only thing they asked for was to try not to do “posed photos” – they wanted me to just capture the fun nature of their family….So off I went. Here is a sneak peek of the result!
I decided to make a few facebook cover photos from some bits of nature I’ve photographed in my journeys for my own personal facebook page, and I wanted to share them with you too!
Feel free to right click on any of them below, and upload them to your cover They are already the perfect dimensions and all I ask is that you don’t remove the watermark! Thanks and enjoy!
Yeah Mon (I never thought that phrase was actually used alot but Jamaican’s say it more than we say eh?) Jamaica was beautiful – the weather was hot and breezy and the sights were spectacular. I recently went down to Falmouth, Jamaica to the Breezes Trewlany Resort for the wedding of Jon And Tamara. This is about 30 minutes east of Montego Bay. We arrived early in the morning just after sunrise and it was amazingly neat to see the contrast of shanty and mansions along the road to Falmouth. Along the roads were goats (not moose, or deer like back home) and many places selling local food, conch shells and other local goods.
I have posted a slideshow of all of these photos next, or scroll past the video to see the individual photos of this wedding.

The beautiful clear turquoise waters of Falmouth, Jamaica.
The view from my room door
Down the beach were shanties where you could buy lots of local merchandise – i loved one of the local fisherman’s boats sitting on the beach – the colours in it were beautiful
A few days before the wedding we all went out on a Catamaran chartered for all 62 of us vising from Grande Prairie! We left out of Margaritaville in Montego bay and snorkeled and sailed for the afternoon – it was beautiful! Here are a couple of photos from that day!
The wedding day came and Colleen Bromby from Factory Hair Studio here in Grande Prairie did the bride’s hair that day – a beautiful loose french braid across the side and back with wisps of hair free – totally suited Tamara’s personality, her dress and her tie-dye themed wedding
The dress was amazing – a custom dress in a flowing silk georgette designed by the talented Lani from R O O Y Couture!
Tamara held back her tears as her uncle walked her towards Jon (the groom) and her son Ashton waiting on the beach.
And a hug for mom….he was so happy to be there with his parents on this amazing day!
I don’t remember the exact count but I do believe there were 62 of us from Grande Prairie at this beautiful wedding. So of course we had to do a big group shot!
And the couple posed for some photos for the resort photographer and the crowd and of course I had to get my camera in there too hehe
And of course a few shots of the wedding party before we ventured out on our own. Tamara herself, hand tie-dyed all the dresses and shirts for the groomsmen/bridesmaid
We ventured off for a little walk around the resorts lush gardens…
And on to the reception where they cut the cake, did some speeches and changed into comfortable clothes for a night with their best friends and family!
But…..there is more!
I wanted to save the best for last……there are no words needed to describe this…except maybe the song I’m sexy and I know it by LMFAO?
I haven’t posted since my year in reviews so its time to let you know what I have been doing during the months of January, February and March!
This year has started out with a bang! So much in store for 2012 I can’t even begin to tell you how excited I am – I have amazing brides and grooms, families, trips and projects lined up that are so exciting!
January was a busy month for me getting ready for the Ultimate Bridal Show here in Grande Prairie. It was a great success again this year, and i loved my booth and how it turned out! Lots of brides and grooms came to visit me and many of them booked their weddings with me!
This month also had a few wonderful sessions
February was a crazy month full of travel and sessions- here are some of them from February:
The highlight of February was going to WPPI (Weddings & Portrait Photographers International) conference in Las Vegas – what a mind blowing experience – I learned so much and met some of the most amazing people!
